On the evening of September 28, the first magnitude star ANTARES (Alpha Sco) will be occulted by the moon for all of New Zealand except the very far north. The first diagram below shows the full region over which the occultation will be visible. The second diagram below shows the path of the star for the 69 locations around New Zealand detailed in the following tables; the most southerly sites see the longest occultation.
