Nerthus occultation - 2011 August 05

Discussion:

The ellipse above is plotted at the same area as the expected 73 km diameter of Nerthus..
With two chords we can be confident of the path of Nerthus and that it was south of the predicted line.
The DAMIT database of asteroid models produced two possible models of the projection of Nerthus at the time of the event. The size of the 3D model has been adjusted to approximate the the same area as that of the ellipse.

Clearly the 2nd one is a better fit to the observations.

The figures below show the Tangra light curve of the occultation.

Comments: The event was 25 sec late. Video file got corrupted and I only
processed 20 sec around the event which part was good I didn't reset the
KIWI after the event. I reset it 30 min later and it showed "error use fieldcount"
so the reported times may be off by a constant.
[ An adjustment of -1.5 secs has been applied to Hristo's data in plots above - jt]
